How I Deal With My Oily Skin

For any of you girls (and guys) out there who have combination-oily skin know the struggles. You spend all morning making sure your makeup is perfect just to come home at the end of the day looking like you've rubbed vegetable oil all over your face.
Don't get me wrong I know the benefits of having oily skin, one being the delayed signs of wrinkles - but, that doesn't make any difference when I see half of my make-up sliding off.
I've tried many different ways to help control my oils, so I thought I'd share my tips on how I help to control my oils.

1. Moisturising

You may think that because you have oily skin you don't need to add anymore moisture to your face. However, if you don't moisturise your skin can become dehydrated (yes, you can have oily skin but it still be dehydrated) and when this happens it produces even more oil to compensate. So, every morning and night after washing my face I use a moisturiser, normally oil-free, to keep my face hydrated and prevent the over production of oil.

2. Using a Translucent Setting Powder

My favourite has to be by Laura Mercier. I only use it on my more oily areas to prevent cake-face but this powder really is a miracle in a pot. It keeps my oils at bay all day and allows my makeup to stay flawless. This powder does have a heft price-tag (£30...) but there are some alternatives from cheaper brands such as NYX which do just as good of a job.

3.Oil-Blotting Papers

I don't always use these, but for occasions and holidays I find them to be a life saver. I put them in my purse and when I see my face getting a lil' shiny I whip one out and dab away the excess oil. Put a small amount of powder on and you're good to go.

As you can see having oily skin doesn't have to be the bane of your life. I've learned these small, simple tricks to dealing with my oils over the past few years. If you have any other tips and suggestions feel free to comment below or tweet me @PhoebeeMoon
