For the past two months I couldn't help but have noticed how bad my makeup was looking. Not to gloat, but I do have very clear skin and only ever get hormonal breakouts at that time of the month. I cleanse. tone, serum, moisturise and do a whole lot of other wonderful things to my skin, buy yet my makeup was still patchy and flaky. Over Christmas, I reduced the amount of times I wore makeup, and today was the first time in almost two weeks where I have done a full-face - my make-up looked so much better! I did some slightly different things in my routine which I believe have contributed to my makeup looking as it used to.

The second difference I made was using a cream bronzer under my powder bronzer. Some some reason my bronzer game has never been strong and too often looks patchy and muddy. But today, by using my cream bronzer I felt like it gave me a good base for my powder bronzer and it hasn't looked patchy all day! The cream I use is the Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel Cream Bronzer. It's expensive but it lasts ages and applies flawlessly to the skin! Alongside my bronzer I have been applying my MAC blush in Spellbinder, a gorgeous baby pink which I think makes my skin look a lot more youthful and helps put a splash of colour back onto my face.
Eyeliner is something I always wear as I dont wear fake lashes and it just helps to make my lashes look more full. However, due to my hooded eyes I find it sometimes makes my eye look smaller rather than opening them up. Today I did a thinner line and a wing that was more extended yet still small. It really helped to open up my eyes and give them more of an almond shape. This is a technique I will be using every time I do my eyeliner as it has really worked for me!
The final thing I did was not put highlighter on my cheekbones SSSHHHOOOCKKKKK!!!! I found that when I apply highlighter it doesn't sit right with the rest of my makeup and makes my cheeks look stripy. Instead I applied BECCA Champagne Pop to my brow bone and inner corner but left my cheeks. (Tbh, from the liquid glow underneath my foundation I didn't need any on my cheeks).
So that's it. That's how I've managed to fix my makeup. I don't apply this much everyday , but I was just so in the mood to cake my face and try new things! I can't believe I've found techniques which help me to look more youthful, more glowy. yet still keep my oils under control! Have you discovered any new ways of applying your makeup? If so, tweet them to me. My twitter handle is in the sidebar.
